Garrett Electronics was founded by Charles and Eleanor Garrett in 1964, operating from their garage in Garland, Texas. Their first product, a dual search coil detector, was soon introduced to the market.

Garrett pioneered innovations such as oscillator drift elimination, notch and multinotch filters for target discrimination, and the GTI graphical target imaging screen. The company now manufactures metal detectors for hobbyists, security screening, and professional applications.

Garrett is ISO 9001 certified, manufactures in the USA, and is recognized as a global leader in the research, design, and production of metal detection equipment.
